Can Dogs and Cats Sense the Paranormal?
When we talk about Pets and the paranormal, we are really talking about Dogs and Cats, both of which are intelligent and live in our day to day lives in our homes.
Dogs and the Paranormal
As a dog owner myself, you do get to know their personalities and habits very well. Some dogs bark a lot and at everything and some dogs are quite and reserved. On some of the investigations I do, dogs are often mentioned to have started barking, growling, or whining at an apparently empty hallway, doorway or room or it could be a dog refuses to enter a room it previously had no problems with.
Cats and the Paranormal
Like dogs, you get to know your cat well and can pick up on their behaviour change. Cats often stare at things and where it becomes more interesting is when the staring behaviour is paired with other things like hissing at the same empty space, puffing up, or refusing to cross a particular threshold. Cats are every territorial and highly sensitive to changes in their environment like new furniture, flooring and lighting.
My Cat “Whisky”
I used to live in an old terrace house on my own when I was 18 years old, and I was already experiencing many paranormal activities in my life at this point. There used to be a gentleman spirit who would walk up and down the hallway and look through the gap in the door while I was sitting watching TV. He would also occasionally walk in the room and I would feel he’s presence has he came in. Sometimes my cat “Whisky” would be the first signal that he was there, because Whisky would be sitting in the middle of the room staring at the gap in the door. For the 3 years I lived at the property, Whisky never went into the hallway or upstairs or indeed any other part of the house apart from the kitchen and living room.
Investigations
I do take Dogs and Cats behaviour into consideration when working on an investigation, has sometimes it can help with the bigger picture of what’s going on.
