Haunting at The Old Courthouse, Cheltenham

Haunting at The Old Courthouse, Cheltenham, UK
Located opposite the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham and perfect for food and a drink before a show.
I visited The Old Courthouse a couple of times in late 2025 and was quite surprise how a building with such history, human misery and emotional pain could lack any paranormal presence in the bar and restaurant area. However, I did go down to the toilets which are located in the basement, and that’s a very different feeling altogether.
I believe its part of the original holding cells and I could really feel the negative energy there before I even took the first step downwards on the staircase. I had a intense feeling of being watched and I could really feel the tension around me as I walked through the corridor, it made me think positive grounding thoughts.
Although nothing showed itself to me or tried to communicate, its well worth a visit just to feel the energy!
Revisit / Update
I returned to the Old Court House on October 5th 2026 for a second walk about and and again on the ground floor it was calm, but as you walk down the staircase to the toilet areas it completely changes. As you walk done each step, its like walking into a deep swimming pool, as you walk down you can feel the surface level come up your body, its really incredible and this time when I was completely submerge and standing at the bottom of the staircase, there was so much static around me and my head, telling me of Poltergeist activity.
Well worth a visit….
