Haunting at the Gloucester Antiques Centre, Gloucester, UK

Gloucester Antiques Centre, Westgate Street, Gloucester
The Gloucester Antiques Centre is located at 26 Westgate Street and a Grade 1 listed timber-framed house with parts dating back to the late 16th century and research suggests the rear section dates to around 1590 and some parts potentially dating back as far as 1470.
This is a great place to visit with lots old and collectable items spread over 3 floors.
The building itself is very old and has a history going back hundreds of years and there are signs around the store advertising their resident ghost.
My visit here was in late 2025 and when I first walked in I could immediately feel the layers of age of the place and its history just kind of grabs you and puts its arms around you. I did not introduce myself, I just went for a wonder up its tight staircases and old creaking wooden floors. I made a point of keeping my hands in my pockets due to all the old items that were once connected to people, I did not want to touch anything.
So this is where I say “there was no spirits” Wrong!
While wondering around on the second floor I became very aware of a woman standing by my side wearing a old fashioned white summer dress with flowers on it. She was quite young, perhaps late 20’s with dark hair worn up on top of her head and she was happy and smiling and was doing a twirl with her arms up high in the hair.
The other event was when I was leaving and was not so pleasant as the beautiful young lady. In the store on the ground floor there is a large collection of cuddly toys and dolls all in a large group, and in amongst them was something very dark indeed. I could feel it staring at me with daggers as I walked by, it was almost as one of those cute children’s toys faces had a demonic attachment. This is not uncommon for things with faces like dolls, has demonic entities use them as vessels. I looked away and left the shop.
I do plan to return soon for another walk about in 2026.
Update March 2026
I returned to the Gloucester Antics Centre and it felt different this time. Things have been moved around a little and whatever was there amongst the toys on my last visit was not there this time, not at that moment anyway. I could feel energy changes as I walk through the ground floor and my ears were ringing, which is always a sign for me of spiritual activity. There was a resident cat asleep in the middle of the shop floor. Cats are renowned for being able to see spirits, so I am sure if that cat could talk, it would really have some stories to tell.
I do plan to return later in 2026 for another walk about, because its such an interesting building of history and spiritual activity.
